Day 2 of recording!

The day started off right when I got to the studio and John was already there with his Pedal Steel ready to go. A few run thru's and we now have Pedal Steel on the song which I personally love and think adds so much atmosphere to the song! Then Ken came by and added the Bass to round out the song perfectly. Darren came by and added a solo and then him and I went on to another song which I wrote recently and makes for 2 very different songs that were recorded this weekend. The final versions of both should be up on my Facebook ( Rob McCallum ) page some time this week. One of the songs I recorded this weekend is a song i've had for the last couple years. I did some revisions to the lyrics over the last couple months but the actual structure of it never changed since day one. It felt good to get it out of my head, I can stop thinking about what it needs or if I should add/take away anything to it. Now I can move on to writing some fresh songs!

Day 1 of recording

Day 1 of recording was a lot of fun, although it started out bad when I went to pick up all my gear from my parents house where i've been rehearsing. My acoustic was sitting on the ground in it's case unlocked, which I didn't realize until I had another guitar in my hand and I went to pick that one up to take to the truck...Well my acoustic went flying out, thankfully no damage other than a broken string, which Pat was able to supply at the studio. Other than that the day was a lot of fun, Darren came to add some guitar licks and some Banjo. Kyle came for some moral support, but he also has a great ear and knows what i'm trying to accomplish with my songs! Pat also gave me some good news at the beginning of the day when he knew I needed someone to play some bass, so he gave Ken and John a call from the band The Collapse. I'm looking forward to hear what they can add on Day 2, they're both fantastic musicians! Hopefully you will enjoy what i'm hearing at the studio as much as I am!
